Diamond Tree is a villa designed by 3NDY Studio for the Smioni family in Ponzano Veneto, between the north-west residential and rural areas.
The concept of the design revolves around deconstruction, simplification and the rotation of the volume in order to create some perceptual space.
There is no corridor between the living room and the night area, which repsents a three-dimensional view of mixed and flowing Spaces, without a fixed hierarchy and filled with light from a large skylight.
The house is wrapped in a variety of natural high quality materials, which were chosen for their colors and physical properties. Canaletto walnut, for example, is carved with strips of burnt granite and mixed with high technology materials such as burnt stones and solid surfaces, especially to make use of their aesthetic characteristics.
One of the great challenges of this project can be repsented by the use of solid surfaces on the facade. It was very difficult to cut and shape the solid panel in order to make it follow the polygonal
window openings. The construction process required analysis of the panel connection system and manual operation by a designated team of craftsmen. The end result is perfect, with the purity and firmness of the white material giving the house a unique, weather-protected shell.
