so cherish things, learn from nature is my design concept.

In my opinion ,a house is a world.

宜宾是长江上游开发最早、历史最悠久的城市之一，

古称“僰道”、“戎州”、“叙州”，

素有“西南半壁古戎州”的美誉。

Yibin is one of the earliest cities on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River，

and was called Bodao, Rongzhou and Xuzhou ,

which is well-known as Half Southwest Rong State.

看漫山竹海、极目青翠，

便从心而起，惦记着要在这个“古戎州”里，

隐于竹海，融竹之十德，

追“耳濡清风徐来意，目及竹浪起伏时”之意。

The first time I arrived at Yibin,

Look at tthe sea of bamboo, the verdant eyes,

I started from my heart,

Thinking about being in Ancient Rongzhou,

Create a bamboo world.

Hidden in the bamboo sea, with bamboo ten virtues，

Make a pot of tea，hear the wind coming

and see the bamboo waves rising and falling,

which I believe must be so nice!

有了以“竹”为“筑”的想法后，我寻遍宜宾，

并没能寻得把竹材作为材料应用主体的空间。

于是我放眼国内竹类建筑、室内空间，

以及竹材加工生产企业。

With the idea of building with bamboo, I look all over Yibin,

but I didn’t find the space in which bamboo is used as a material.

After that, I spent much time，

looking for domestic bamboo buildings,

interior space and bamboo processing and production enterprises.

我收集了很多关于竹材设计、加工、应用的资料，

学习到不少关于竹的知识。

但我也发现，大部分与竹相关的设计，

多是浅显于“竹”的传统用法，

少见大面积运用到室内的做法，

也罕见于以“竹”为主题的设计诠释。

In this process,

I collected a lot of information about bamboo design,

processing, and application at home and abroad,

and learned a lot about bamboo.

But I also found that most of the bamboo-related designs

are mostly shallow in the traditional usage of bamboo,

and rarely used in large areas in the interior,

also rare in design interptations with bamboo.

拾捨·竹里馆的“源”就是竹。

尊崇自然，尽量不去破坏材料本身的天性。

——这是我的一贯坚持。

我喜欢自然的材料，也想穷竹之本源。

My design philosophy is，

Natural, rustic, environmentally friendly,

So I will try not to destroy nature but to respect nature,

which s why I like natural materials.

I still hold the belief of One thought, one space, one world.

我想造一个关于竹的世界。

这样的世界能够给客人带来什么？

这个世界是否有足够的人文温度？

要赋予这个竹之世界以什么样的特点？

客人能在这里留下什么、离开时又能带走什么？

I want to create a world about bamboo.

But,how should I expss and build it?

What kind of experience can such a world bring to guests?

Is there enough humanistic temperature in this world?

What characteristics should be given?

What can they take away when they leave?

把美好的想法付诸实践，

所需要的是一系列专业的思考，

以及设计者与被设计对象彼此的身份交换，

要在设计中注入洞察与觉知。

Put good ideas into practice,

Is a very challenging thing,

What needed is a series of professional thinking,

And identities exchange between designer and object,

More importantly，

Inject insight and awareness into the design.

大部分酒店、民宿都只是在解决，

墙、地、顶六个面的装饰，

属于没有个性的流水线产品。

我要从这样的业态模式中解放出来，

着眼解决空间本身的问题，

而不是停留在装饰层面。

■ REALIZATION

From a professional design perspective,

Most hotels and B – B are just

Dealing with the decoration of walls, floors and roofs，

It’s an assembly line product with no personality.

I want to be liberated from this business model,

Focus on solving the problem of space itself,

Instead of staying at the decorative.

我想建造一种“表皮”，来表达空间的概念。而大脑意识下的“装饰”，为了将每个空间的具体部位，比如地面、墙面、吊顶区分开，往往都会惯性地选择相应的材料，总是想把每个部位处理得干净利落，来彰显这是思考下出来的结果，然而这样的装饰是为了掩盖那个已经“死去”的内核，反而显得很僵硬，不自然。我想把自己从这样的产物中解放出来，重新构筑一种表皮，就像人或动物、植物一样，都拥有自己的表皮，反而自然、开放和柔软一些。

I want to build a skin to expss the concept of space, but the decoration connected with the brain consciousness is to differ the specific parts of each space, such as floors, walls and ceilings and often the corresponding material inertia will be chosen with the purpose of making every part clean and tidy to show that this is the result of thinking. However, this type of decoration is to cover up the dead core, which, on the contrary, makes it rigid and unnatural. Therefore, I want to free myself from this and rebuild a skin, just as the one people or animals or plants, which I think is natural, open and soft.

我将竹材加工成片状、条状和板状，加工后的竹材都经过高温蒸煮、石灰水浸泡，以达到防虫、防腐和防霉的效果，之后，再结合阻燃处理。加工过程中，为追求环保，尽量避免油漆。

I process bamboo into sheets, strips and plates, after that , the bamboo is cooked at high temperature and soaked in lime water, then, it should be dried in the shade naturally to achieve the effect of insect pvention, antiseptic and mildew proof. Besides, considering the flame retardant treatment, I will try not to use paint to achieve the effect of environmental protection.

我尝试仅通过竹材不同的肌理质感来表达空间。客房内部以竹条、竹片、竹皮三种不同的材料肌理，搭建成拱形的竹编，形成每个空间独一无二的表皮。过道顶面以原竹构筑，追求一种时空的“错乱”——是漫步在竹海、还是停留在“拾捨”？大厅楼梯间以竹编造型，灯光将光影投射在墙上，像是竹海里被打碎的阳光。

I plan to expss space only through the different texture of bamboo. The interior of the room is made of bamboo strips, and bamboo skins, like building blocks, bamboo weaving is arched,forming the unique skin of each space. The top of the corridor is constructed with original bamboo, which is like shuttling through the time tunnel of bamboo forest. Bamboo weaving modeling of hall stairs and the the shadow of bamboo cast on the wall with the help of light forming a picture like the sunlight through the bamboo leaves in the bamboo forest.

整个设计更像是一个竹材的产品设计。建筑设计过程中找到了一种新的竹材运用方式。希望能够通过这样的思考与呼唤，为竹子这一自然、环保、再生能力强的材料，找到一个焕发新生的机会。

The whole design seems to be a bamboo product design, which is certainly a new way of using bamboo. I hope to find a new exit for bamboo, a kind of natural, environmentally-friendly and renewable material, by this means.

拾捨·竹里馆的设计框架十分现代，但在框架的背后，饱含我对于中国传统文化的理解和坚守。尊重历史，回归自然。

The design of this Bamboo Lodge is very modern ,but behind it , what I want to convey is my understanding and adherence to Chinese traditional culture. In a word, we should respect history and return to nature.
