Integration with Mexico City’s New International Airport, with connections to Central de Abastos – the largest market in the world, and the city’s westside CBD.The project will revolutionize the way Mexicans live, work, travel, produce, trade, build and innovate.Travels at speeds of 1,200 km/hour, using a combination of maglev and pneumatic tube technology.FR-EE designed both cargo and passenger stations for each city on the route.
As the first new major mode of transportation in over 100 years, transporting passengers and cargo directly to their destinations at speeds of up to 700 mph, above land or underground, and point-to-point without stops, the system promises to enhance Mexico’s global transport and logistics performance, and se-cure the country as a leader in autonomous mobility and other innovative transportation-related research. With the recent and successful completion of its Proof of Concept, the stage is now set for proof of opera-tions testing in 2020 with new corridors coming online in subsequent years, including Mexico.
Mexloop’s proposed Phase 1 Hyperloop Corridor captures the country’s major population, cultural, industrial and manufacturing centers, connecting Mexico City, the capital and most populous city of Mexico and one of the most important financial cen-ters in the Americas, with the El Bajio cities of Queretaro, Leon and Guadalajara – a vigorous ser-vices region and economic powerhouse that has been recognized as the most dynamic in Latin America with a diverse array of industries including technology, automotive, and aerospace, as well as many of its top universities and R&D centers. Mexloop Stations are integrated with airports, city centers, as well as new development, and are envisioned as multimodal termi-nals accommodating future forms of transport. Future phases extend the region’s supply chain, connecting the ports of Manzanillo and Veracruz, as well as a corridor that branches northward to the United States, Mexico’s top trading partner. Additional corridors around the country with significant government sup-port are also being studied.
In naming the Mexloop consortium’s proposal one of its winners, Hyperloop One noted the team as the most comprehensive it had seen, consisting of Mexico’s design and thought leaders; experts in infra-structure and transportation investment and operations; top real estate, economics and manage-ment consultants; innovation agencies and think tanks; and the support of local, state, and federal government.
Mexloop was also lauded for a proposal that extended far beyond a corridor, recognizing the po-tential to catalyze a strategic, high-technology hub in the Bajio region, centered around next-generation transportation industries such as aerospace engineer-ing, autonomous software, and advanced and preci-sion manufacturing. Part of its value proposition in-cluded the opportunity to build and develop a Hyperloop knowledge ecosystem in Mexico through university partnerships, training and certification programs, and professional development. Combined, these would form the basis of a Hyperloop industry and supply chain, where Hyperloop One components are developed and exported to the rest of the world.
With Mexloop’s recent inclusion as a priority project in the Cámara Mexicana de la Industria de la Construcción / Mexico Construction Industry Chamber’s (CMIC) 2030 Sustainable Infrastructure Proposal, Mexloop and Hyperloop One are now part-nering with government and the private sector to produce a business model, technical solution, and certification process for the development of a Hyperloop corridor in Mexico.
